The short version: your calculator inputs never leave your browser. We do not require an account, we do not sell data, and the only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to type into the contact form.
1. Who we are
This policy explains how Roof Truss Calculator ("we", "us") handles information in connection with https://rooftrusscalculator.online (the "Site"). For any privacy question, contact us at hello@rooftrusscalculator.online.
2. Your calculator data stays on your device
Every calculator on this Site runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Spans, pitches, loads, prices and every other value you enter are processed locally and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
We do not store your calculations, we cannot retrieve them, and closing the tab discards them. This is a property of how the Site is built, not merely a policy commitment.
3. Information we do receive
Contact form submissions
If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you provide. We use them solely to respond to you. Submissions are delivered through a third-party form service (Web3Forms), which processes the message in transit; we do not sell or share this information with anyone else, and we retain correspondence only as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
Server and hosting logs
The Site is hosted on Vercel. Like nearly all web hosts, Vercel records standard technical request data. IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp and referring page, for security, abuse prevention and operational purposes. We do not use these logs to build profiles of individuals.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are useful. Any such analytics is configured to avoid cross-site tracking and does not identify individual visitors. We do not use advertising trackers or data brokers.
4. Cookies
The Site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not require cookies to function. Where a strictly necessary cookie is set by our hosting provider for security purposes, it carries no marketing function.
Third-party services we embed, currently Google Fonts for typography, may receive your IP address as a normal consequence of your browser requesting a file from them. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
5. Legal bases (UK/EU visitors)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Legitimate interests, operating and securing the Site, and responding to enquiries you send us
- Consent, where you voluntarily submit information through the contact form
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of personal information we hold about you, and to object to processing. Because we hold very little, essentially only contact correspondence, these requests are usually simple to fulfil.
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA including the right to know and the right to delete. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

7. Data retention
Contact correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to handle your enquiry and to keep a reasonable record of it. Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider's standard retention period. Calculator inputs are never retained because they are never received.
8. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. Because we deliberately collect almost no personal data, the practical risk surface is small, the most effective privacy measure we take is not collecting information in the first place.
9. Children
The Site is intended for a general and professional audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Our hosting and form services may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, those providers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
